Why are you here?
Who or What attracted you here?
Why did you say yes?
What do you expect to gain from this group?
Two ways of meditating the Gospel
The Ignatian way:
1. Read the Gospel excerpt.
2. Pray to God to open your mind to His Word.
3. Imagine you are one of the characters in the story.
What is around you that you can recognize with your senses?
Can you see above, below and around you?
Can you feel with your hands and feet etc?
Listen to the noises around you or someone talking.
Can you smell / taste anything unusual?
4. Read the passage again.
5. What are your reactions to these experiences?
6. Thank God for opening your mind to His word.
Through questioning:
1. Read the Gospel excerpt.
2. Pray to God to open your mind to His Word.
3. Read the gospel again.
4. Ask, discuss and write down:
What…. is the story about?
What…. comes before/after?
Who….. are the characters in the story?
Who….. of the characters can you relate to?
Where.. is the story taking place?
Why….. did Jesus/other character/s do/say so?
How….. did the story resolve itself?
How….. did you apply the lesson to yourself?
5. Thank God for opening your mind to His word.
